Posto Bora

I have been away from blogging for almost 2 months now. My apologies to all my readers. Though I always had a post in mind, I somehow couldnot manage to squeeze out time for the blog. However, this time out of sheer guilt, I forced myself to take out time and come up with this simple, quick and easy Posto Bora recipe.

Posto (Khus Khus in Hindi and Poppy Seeds in English) is an integral and popular ingredient in any Bengali kitchen. It is either used in gravies or as a main dish. Aloo Posto being the all time favourite, you will also see poppy seeds added to non vegetarian preparations sometimes.

Apart from its quality of adding flavour, poppy seeds are a great source of fatty acids, calcium and carbohydrates. It enhances enzymes too. Other not so known benefits of poppy seeds are:

Digestion: Poppy seeds are considered as useful remedies for facilitating effective process of digestion in human body.

Heart diseases: Poppy seeds contain linoleic acid, which protects the human body from heart attacks and other heart related disorders.

Breast Cancer:The oil that is made from poppy seeds, contain oleic acid, which is useful in treating breat cancer.

The Posto Bora recipe that I am sharing with you today is widely popular in bengali househods and restaurants. Good restaurants serving authentic bengali cuisine like Oh! Calcutta or 6, Ballygunge Place offer the perfect Posto Boras in the city.

With poppy seeds as the main ingredient, you won't need much of any other ingredient to prepare these poppy seeds tikkis. Tastes good when served with steamed rice, dal and fish curry.

Posto Bora
